I want to assure you that the advice provides comes from more than 37 years of active medical experience, including full training in general surgery, 5 years of work in emergency rooms, including 30 years of active practice as a Gainesville plastic surgeon. This extensive training and experience come with board certification in plastic surgery as well as a fellowship with the American College of Surgeons.

My training in plastic surgery was performed and completed at Boston University, which is among the most renowned plastic surgery programs. During my time at Boston University, I completed special training in cosmetic surgery and skin care, including skin cancers, burns, scar revisions, and skin trauma. My training also encompasses reconstruction of the face, hands, breast, body, and torso. Dr. John Poser Biography

Dr. John S. Poser is a third-generation physician with comprehensive training in general surgery and plastic surgery with board-certification in plastic surgery. Dr. Poser graduated and received training in plastic surgery at Boston University in Boston, MA, under a well-known Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Gasbar Anastasi — there he received special training in trauma, reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Poser has practiced plastic surgery in Gainesville, FL, since 1984, and he holds courtesy privileges at UF Health Shands Hospital. He is also an active staff member at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Dr. Poser is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the International Society of Plastic Surgery and the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgery, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Poser belongs to the Florida Medical Society of Alachua County and is the President Tri-County Health Alliance.

Dr. Poser's father and both of his grandfathers were former doctors in Wisconsin. Dr. Poser's paternal grandfather, Dr. Edward Poser, founded the Poser Clinic in Columbus, WI, in 1894, which is the second-oldest clinic in the State of Wisconsin. The Poser Clinic is now operated by his cousins, Ralph Poser and Sam Poser. The Poser Family has a tradition of sports and medicine. Dr. Edward Poser tried out with the Chicago Cubs, which were in their fourth year of professional baseball while playing on the Rush Medical School Club team in 1891. Dr. Bob Poser played baseball and basketball for the University of Wisconsin and baseball for the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Browns. He coached the University of Wisconsin Baseball team while in medical school. Dr. Bob Poser's brother, Rolf Poser, was captain of the University of Wisconsin Basketball team twice and both are in the University of Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame. Dr. John Poser was co-captain of the Wisconsin Baseball team and was voted the best pitcher in the BIG 10 Conference while in pre-med at the University of Wisconsin. He was the only freshman at the University of Wisconsin who played three sports.
